Hundred Years War– A series of wars fought between England & France over territory. England at one time claimed parts of France. It ran from 1337 to 1453; you’ve not misread that, it is actually longer than a hundred years. New Weapons introduced during the Hundred Years War were the longbow & gunpowder. The English & French used cannons to destroy the castles.

Joan of Arc a peasant girl living in France, believed that God had chosen her to lead France to victory against England in the Hundred Years War. With no military training she led a French army to defeat the English; a turning point in the 100 Years War. She was captured by the English, tried for a witch & heresy and burned at the stake at the age of 19
